TERRAS
How does supernova 1987A relate to the human body?
Can an immortal jellyfish Turritopsis Dohrnii be reborn?
TERRAS, the new dance performance by choreographer-filmmaker Chrysanthi Badeka, explores the interconnection of destruction and regeneration within a multimedia universe. Drawing on stories of abuse victims and natural functions, it focuses on conflict, the elasticity of the body, deformation and faith – to the certainty of what we hope for.
Combining the art of dance with visual practices, the installation-performance develops within a moving virtual universe constructed from movement, sound, digital image, light and a changing set-costume.
The body becomes simultaneously a transmitter and receiver, sound visualizes events and light interconnects the immaterial with matter.
TERRAS is the space, the earth (terra) for all the monsters that hide within us, between us.
